Why help to finance well drilling ?

Access to safe drinking water is a fundamental right, not a privilege. This precious resource, source of life, is so rare and so poorly shared on our planet that it is called “blue gold”.

According to the UN World Water Development Report from 2019 (source), one in three people in the world does not have rapid access to safe drinking water. This means, according to UN figures, that more than 2 billion people are still deprived of this fundamental right.

Access to safe drinking water deeply and sustainably changes the lives of the poorest, especially women and children who devote up to 6 hours a day to providing water to their homes at the expense of their education.

Furthermore, marginalized populations suffering discrimination due to their gender, age, social status, belonging to religious, ethnic or linguistic minorities are most likely to have less access to water and sanitation services.

The construction of a drinking water well especially enables :

The improvement of hygiene, living conditions and therefore, the general state of health of disadvantaged populations ;

– The schooling, access to education and knowledge for children ;

Women’s empowerment, which has a driving effect on the economy through the development of activities such as market gardening and tourism;

– The promotion of other Human Rights and the reduction of inequalities among populations;

Alleviation of water-related conflicts.

It is possible to provide direct assistance to these countries by drilling wells to provide sustainable access to drinking water for those who do not have access to it. By making a donation to these associations, you are directly financing the drilling of wells.

Who are YouCare’s partner associations ?

To finance access to drinking water, YouCare financially supports the association Solidarité Eau Afrique, whose mission is to drill wells in Benin in order to improve access to water.

Solidarité Eau Afrique guarantees that 100 % of donations are used to carry out well drilling projects in Benin. The association works without intermediary, and ensures on site the proper execution of the drilling works that they finance.

You can discover on our map all the associations we support. For each of them, you will find their contact information in their description.

How is my donation used ?

It is our duty to offer you maximum visibility on the use of your donation.

When you make a donation via our donation page, it is entirely collected by the YouCare Association, which then donates 70 % of your donation to its partner associations.

For instance, if you make a donation of 10 euros, 7 euros will be donated to YouCare’s partner associations, which will enable to offer 22,050 litres of drinking water to disadvantaged populations. (Access the detailed calculation here.)

The remaining 30 % is used to cover the operating costs of our solidarity search engine YouCare, which, unlike its competitors, uses half of its advertising revenues to help its partner associations financially. Click here to try YouCare.

Proof of donations

You will find on our certificates of donations’ page the history of all our donations made to our partner associations.

Certificates of donations

In addition to our certificates of donations, we ask our partner associations to send us, as soon as they have the time and opportunity, photos of the wells built in order to share with you the evolution of the projects.
